Only Down
About Only Down
Only Down is a free online multiplayer skill game where you guide a green ball on an endless descent through a field of scattered floating platforms. Your health bar drains continuously the moment you're falling through open air, so the goal isn't to avoid the platforms — it's to use them. Landing on a tile pauses the drain, giving your health a moment to hold steady before you drop again, and green orbs scattered along the way refill lost health when you collect them. The result is a constant risk-reward balancing act: chase distance too aggressively and your health runs out mid-fall, but linger too long on safe tiles and you fall behind the pace needed to set a new best.
Matches take place in shared rooms against other live players, with a Today Score leaderboard in the top left corner tracking who has covered the greatest distance. A running score counter in the center of the screen climbs the further you fall, and a built-in chat lets you talk to other players in your room between runs.

Using Platforms to Stay Alive
The scattered blue platforms below you aren't obstacles to dodge — they're the only thing standing between your ball and a drained health bar. While you're falling through open air, your health ticks down steadily, but the instant you land on a tile, the drain stops and your health holds in place. This turns every platform into a brief safe haven, and reading the field ahead to chain landings together is the core skill in Only Down. Some platforms are wide and easy to land on, while others are small, tilted, or scattered far apart, forcing you to accept a longer stretch of free-falling health loss before your next chance to stabilize.
Health, Green Orbs, and Score
Your health bar sits at the bottom of the screen with a numeric readout, dropping continuously while you're airborne and holding steady while you're grounded on a platform. Scattered among the platforms are small green orbs — collecting one refills a portion of your health, giving you room to push through a riskier stretch of the fall without needing to land on every tile along the way. Your score, shown in the center of the screen, climbs the further you descend, so the run becomes a constant trade-off between playing it safe on platforms and diving through open air to rack up distance faster.
Multiplayer Rooms and Chat
Only Down runs in numbered rooms, shown in the top right corner alongside a Leave button for returning to the lobby. The Today Score panel tracks every player's best result for the current session, so you can see exactly how far you need to fall to take the top spot. Pressing Enter opens the in-game chat, letting you talk with other players in your room without interrupting your run.
Tips for Falling Further
- Plan your route toward the nearest platform as soon as you land on one, rather than free-falling until your health is critically low.
- Prioritise collecting green orbs when they're on your path, since a refill can buy you enough health to skip a landing and dive straight through a gap.
- Don't overstay on a single platform — standing still stops your health from dropping, but it also stops your score from climbing.
- Check the Today Score leaderboard often to gauge how much further you need to fall to beat the current leader.
How to Play Only Down
- Join a room — Enter a live session alongside other players currently falling through the same field.
- Start the descent — Your ball begins falling automatically the moment the run starts, and your health starts draining in the air.
- Steer toward platforms — Use A/D or the arrow keys to land on tiles and pause your health drain.
- Collect green orbs — Grab them along the way to refill lost health and extend your run.
- Balance risk and pace — Weigh landing safely against diving through open air to keep your score climbing.
- Chase a higher score — Cover as much distance as possible before your health runs out to climb the Today Score leaderboard.
