Battling on the Court

Each duel plays out on a split court divided by a canal, with two bridges connecting your side to your opponent's. Every card in your hand shows its Aether cost, and playing one deploys it onto open ground on your side, with troops automatically crossing the bridges toward the enemy towers once released. A live timer, the current score, and a Concede option sit in the top left corner throughout the match, while the upcoming card in your rotation is always visible so you can plan your next play in advance.

Cards and Their Roles

Every card in Kingdom Rivals fills a distinct role on the battlefield. Frontline units like the Banner Guard soak up damage and buy time for fragile allies behind them, area-damage spells like Sunburst hit clusters of ground and flying enemies after a short delay, and support units like the Bellbreaker specialize in tearing down enemy buildings rather than fighting troops directly. Tapping a card during a match brings up its full stats, including HP, damage, range, and a short tactical tip, helping you learn how to use unfamiliar cards effectively mid-battle.

Practicing Against Rivals

The Practice menu offers six bot opponents spanning five difficulty tiers, from the Beginner-level Courtyard Cadet up through the Expert-level Garden Castellan. Working through progressively tougher bots is a low-pressure way to test new deck ideas or unfamiliar cards before taking them into a ranked Duel a Player match, and the Battle Deck labeled My Court can be changed at any time from the main hub.

The Learn Academy

The Learn section's Academy tab breaks core strategy down into eight structured lessons, each focused on a specific concept like spell timing, protected support, or building pulls. Lessons such as Raise the Banner teach basic troop placement, while later ones like Keep the Court Together cover more advanced ideas like healing timing and sustained defense. Each lesson includes a labeled diagram showing exactly where to place your cards relative to the canal and bridges, with completed lessons marked by a checkmark once you've cleared their objective.

Tips for Winning Duels

• Place frontline units like the Banner Guard ahead of fragile ranged troops so they absorb the first hit from oncoming ground threats.
• Save area-damage spells like Sunburst for moments when enemy troops are clustered together rather than using them on a single unit.
• Watch both bridges when you're under pressure in one lane, since a rival attack often opens a second front while you're distracted.
• Work through the Learn Academy lessons in order if you're new, since later lessons build directly on concepts introduced earlier.

How to Play Kingdom Rivals

1. Set your battle deck — Choose your eight cards from the Decks menu before entering a match.
2. Choose your opponent — Practice against a rival bot or start a Duel a Player match.
3. Deploy your cards — Spend Aether to place troops, spells, and buildings on your side of the court.
4. Defend your towers — React to enemy pushes on either bridge to protect your three towers.
5. Push the attack — Break through the enemy's towers to score crowns before time runs out.
6. Progress through modes — Climb the Royal Circuit, complete Festival entries, and try Royal Draft for new rewards.
