Backflip Challenge
About Backflip Challenge
Backflip Challenge is a free online skill game developed by FreezeNova where you help an elastic-bodied grandpa launch off a trampoline and land a perfect backflip. Your job is to time his jumps, spin him through a back tuck in mid-air, and bring him down feet-first on a red landing point painted on the ground below. His bones are fragile, so a bad landing — too short, too long, or off-balance — ends the attempt. With simple one-button controls and cartoonish graphics, Backflip Challenge turns a single physics-based trick into dozens of increasingly tricky levels.
Backflip Challenge runs directly in your browser on both desktop and mobile, with no download or install needed. On touchscreens, tap and hold to jump and release to flip, so the game feels just as natural on a phone as it does with a mouse on desktop. The physics-driven ragdoll animation gives every jump a satisfying, slightly chaotic feel, rewarding precise timing over button-mashing.

Aiming for the Red Point
Every level revolves around one red landing point. The longer you hold the jump button, the farther grandpa launches off the trampoline — hold too long and he overshoots into the sea, release too early and he comes up short and crashes. Reading the distance to the red point before each jump is the single most important skill in Backflip Challenge, and it gets harder as later levels shrink the landing zone or raise the trampoline higher.
Performing Clean Back Tucks
Once airborne, hold the left mouse button to spin grandpa through his back tuck, and release right as his legs straighten out so he lands feet-first on the red point. Releasing too early or too late leaves him tumbling out of position, which counts as a failed landing even if he technically hits the target zone. Practicing the release timing on early, forgiving levels makes the tighter, faster-paced later levels much more manageable.
Tips for Winning at Backflip Challenge
Keep your eyes on the red point the entire time, not on grandpa's body — it's the one fixed reference you can plan around. Start with short, controlled holds to get a feel for how jump distance scales with hold time before attempting longer jumps. When performing the back tuck, aim to release the flip slightly before you expect to land rather than after, since the animation needs a moment to straighten his legs. If you keep smashing his bones on landing, try shortening your jump slightly rather than changing your tuck timing.
How to Play Backflip Challenge
- Study the red point — Look at how far the landing zone is from the trampoline before jumping.
- Hold to charge the jump — Tap and hold the left mouse button (or touch on mobile) to build launch distance.
- Release to launch — Let go at the right moment to send grandpa flying toward the red point.
- Hold again for the back tuck — While airborne, press and hold to start the flip rotation.
- Release for a straight landing — Let go once his legs are straight so he lands cleanly on his feet.
- Land on the red point — A clean, centered landing clears the level and unlocks the next one.
- Repeat with sharper timing — Later levels raise the platform and shrink the landing zone, so refine your timing as you go.
